Always Be Prepared (for Catastrophe)

Josh Neufeld's graphic work A.D.: New Orleans After the Deluge was an incredibly moving in-depth look at several lives affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. It's also a book I've recommended to several readers (comics fans and non-fans alike) to great success. And the book also gave me a chance to interview Neufeld not once but twice (first for GNR, then later at a bookstore event in Brooklyn, along with Stitches author David Small). Neufeld is a wonderful comics creator and a friend of this site, so I wanted to point out to readers in the New York area that he will be one of the panelists at a program being put on February 2 by Walls and Bridges (via the New School). The program, Catastrophe Practice, features a philosopher, a psychoanalyst, a geographer, and Neufeld--I think that should cover all possible bases, right? Check it out if you have a chance.
