An Impressive Feat for Nate Powell

Graphic novelist Nate Powell (Swallow Me Whole, Any Empire) joined a group of teen fiction writers at the United Nations this week for a special presentation that raised funds for Darfur refugees. Other writers at the event included R.L. Stine (Goosebumps), Ann M. Martin (The Baby-Sitters Club), both of whom, along with Powell, are part of the new book What You Wish For: A Book for Darfur, which features contributions from a who's who of literary luminaries. All proceeds from the book's sales are going to the UN regugee agency UNHCR. The money will be used to build libraries in refugee camps in Chad. All of this is a pretty amazing cause very much worth supporting and it's great to see Powell representing graphic novels for this important event. To find out more, you can visit the website at
