Three Libraries Win Big at ALA

Congratulations to Julia Simpson (Auburn Public Library in Georgia), Jude Shanzer (East Meadow Public Library in New York), and Beth Adcock (Middlebury Community Public Library in Indiana)! These three lucky librarians won $6,000 worth of graphic novels this past weekend at the American Library Association conference in Chicago. The prizes were given to the winners of a special drawing on Sunday.

The contest was sponsored by the Will and Ann Eisner Family Foundation, run by Carl Gropper (Will's nephew) and his wife, Nancy, and the books will be shipped to the winners via Brodart. The libraries will get the graphic novels nominated for an Eisner Award this year (the awards will be held later this month at San Diego Comic-Con), plus a backlist of Eisner titles, and an additional $2,000 voucher to buy more comics, and $1,000 to hold a comics-related event at their libraries. All in all, a fantastic prize for well-deserving libraries!
